Marilyn Lassman Memorial

The purpose of this fund is to provide financial support to a first or second year Southwestern College student who has returned to pursue a higher education after an absence of at least one year for any reason, and is pursuing an Associate degree or will be transferring to a college or university to pursue a Bachelors degree. Must be enrolled in 9 or more units and have completed at least 12 units at Southwestern College with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Essays and an SEP will be required.

This scholarship is awarded in memory of Marilyn Lassman. Ms. Lassman was the first woman elected to the Governing Board of Southwestern College in 1969. Later, she was appointed by the Governor to the Community College Board of the State of California. She was then elected President of the California Post-Secondary Commission. She served as President of the San Diego School Board Association. Education was her passion and she continued to teach others throughout her lifetime.
