Commitment to Community Scholarship

A scholarship to support students who are actively engaged in bettering their community and/or are civically engaged. Eligible students will:

- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Show proof of a minimum of 15 hours of SWC Service Learning or Jaguar Service within the past 4 semesters
- Answer the following prompt in 300-500 words: How has SWC Service Learning or Jaguar Service sparked a future community or civic commitment for you?

The Commitment to Community Scholarship was created by a young student who believed in giving back through kindness, service, and leadership. Their dedication to the community led to the creation of DS Initiatives, a nonprofit organization focused on making a lasting, on-going and positive impact.

This scholarship supports students who are actively involved in their communities and take initiative to help others. It recognizes students who lead with purpose and make meaningful contributions through ongoing community engagement.

Recipients demonstrate commitment, leadership, curiosity, persistence, follow-through, and a genuine desire to make their community a better place.
